ABSORBED AREAS (LAWS) ACT, 1954

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS ' "In the States of Bihar, Bombay, Uttar Pradesh apply to these areas unless the Governor by notification so directed. Accordingly a number of Central Laws which were known as excluded or partially excluded laws did not operate in these areas. As they have areas before the commencement of the Constitution been merged in the regularly administered areas of and which after such commencement have been the State concerned, it is considered necessary that amalgamated with the regular districts of the States, all Central laws should operate therein uniformly. Under section 92 of the Government of India Act, The Bill seeks to achieve this purpose". - Gaz. of 1935, no Central or Provincial enactment could India. 7-12-1953, Pt.}1, S. 2, Ext. p. 1073. An Act to extend certain laws to the areas which, prior to the commencement of the Constitution, were administered as excluded or partially excluded areas and which, on such commencement, were absorbed in certain States. Be it enacted by Parliament as follows:-

SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE
This Act may be called The Absorbed Areas (Laws) Act, 1954.
