An Act to establish and incorporate a teaching and affiliating University in the State of Assam and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental therto. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fortieth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT

(1) This Act may be called The Assam University Act, 1989.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint.
