SECTION 15: TERM OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS

OBJECTS AND REASONS Act 15 of 1983, Clause 8.-

This clause seeks to amendsection 15of the Act to provide that the term of office of all members of the Board shall be five years instead of three years and to ensure that the term of all elected members whose term is extended under the proviso to sub-section (1) of that section terminates on the date the election of their successors is notified in the Official Gazette. The date of commencement of the office of a member elected to fill casual vacancy shall be calculated from the date of the notification of his election instead of the date of his election. -Gaz.
