Power of attorney

(Querist) 21 November 2013 This query is : Resolved 
One who is working in USA after completing MS still holding INDIAN PASSPORT while visiting India on vacation wants to give general power of attorney to her maternal uncle for taking care of her assets including sale if need be arises.Is that ok legally if the same is duely registered by competent authority.

yes you can prepare power of attorney through some solicitors or lawyers and get it authenticated at Indian embassy in washington. Then it has to be adjudicate with the District Collector in india. Then only it is a valid document

my query was related to preparation and registration of power of attorney in INDIA itself by person concerned herself in presence of valid witnesses,registrar while on a visit to homeland i.e. INDIA.

While visiting India, such person can definitely get registered his POA in favour of person of his choice by personally attending the proceeding.
