Agreement with company

Hi,

I used to work for an IT form in hyderabad. In August 2015 when i have hike they have asked for am commitment for 2 years. In this agreement there is an rule that, if I leave them before 2 years i need to pay them 6months salary as penalty. i just want to know can company claim the same from me as a penalty if i leave them now.

Without seeing the contents of the agreement, proper advice is not possible.

Generally speaking, agreements to withhold an employee is invalid. Throguh this agreement, the company can only recover the amount spent on any special trainning given to the employee.

What is this extra ordinary benefit in lieu of which the employer has drafted this agreement e.g; soem specialized/certified training from some certified Instt?
