Do Daughters have rights on Grandmothers Property?

Dear Sir,

We are a joint family living in a house for more than 50 years for rent. In 2002 my Grandmother bought the property and she died in 2006. There is no will registered, there are 6 childrens for my grandmother (3 Male & 3 female). 2 females are married and 1 unmarried, 2 uncles were unmarried and died and father also died. I would like to know whether my 3 Aunt's can claim/fight for the property.

Regards

Sanjay Paul

Yes they can claim, female children have equal right in the property left by their parents.

Dear Sir,

I have invested hugely on the development of the house till now, will there be any compensation.

That is no consideration. Who is the real owner of the property. It could have been in ruins or turned into a palace but the rights are not abrogated by these considerations.
