Grounds for defamation

Dear all,

I would like to know what are the grounds for filing a defamation case if someone is accusing you among families and relatives? If such case is filed what are the chances of someone getting convicted if its proved that your image is being spoiled with wrong intention irrespective of those accusations being true or not?

which mean If allegations are true then a person has right to spread these things among family and public and spoil your reputation and you can not file a defamation complaint?

Yes.

You cannot sue a person for loss of a reputation which you do not have.

You cannot be punished for educating the society.
