I would like to know what gross salary exactly means and what are all the components which it comprises.
and also what exactly "salary as per provisions contained in sec 17(1) means ? can "employer contribution of PF" also be included in this section while calculating in form16?

Fill in the Monthly Basic Pay & Yearly CTC, you will get a break-up of entire salary component such as PF,Gratuity,Gross salary,Income Tax Liability etc.
In case you need more clarifications,fill in the exemptions like Home Loan Interest paid,Insurance,Medical Bills,Investment in Infra-bonds,savings A/c interest upto Rs.10,000/- etc.
