Residents Welfare Association vs Housing Society

Hi All,

First of all, would like to congratulate the moderators for providing such useful information on this forum.

We live in an apartment in Chennai. There are a total of 9 flats and we are registered as a housing society.

Of late, due to hectic schedules, residents are finding it very difficult to comply with the legal obligations

of a society - Get accounts audited, circulate accounts, maintain vouchers, etc, etc.

We are exploring alternate options to having a society and one suggestion was to set up a RWA (Residents

Welfare Association) which would have the same safeguards as a society but the hassle of maintaining it will be substantially less.

I have been trying to research the internet to get an idea about RWA but have not met with any sucess.

If anyone could point me to some information in this regard or even suggest a few lawyers who would be able to assist me - I would highly appreciate it.

Thanks.
