Ipc 406, private complaint by wife, to recover stridhan

Hello my dear experts,

I have a question. But before it I will post a brief history.

My wife has filed private complaint in the court u/s 406 of IPC to recover the stridhan back. The actual place of jurisdiction is Anand, Gujarat and the complaint filed before Court in Surat.

The respondents to the case are husband, mother and father.

the court ordered the police to record statements of all the parties. the police did record and sent it to the court. so the case is on Pre-Charge stage.

Cross examination of wife is done. Wife did not bring in any one else for cross. nor did she have any legal documents in support of the list of articles she has submitted as stridhan. thereby gave closing of her stage of evidences.

now, the court says that the stage is for PROVIDING AUTHORITY.

The question is What does providing Authority means?

What will be the next stage?

If your wife was unable to proof her case in court then case will be dismissed.
