Powers of police

If an accused dupes some people and expoits their money and deposits the same in his bank account, under which powers does police authorities ask for details of his bank account on a mere complaint of fraud ? Are there any orders or directions needed from a magistrate in this regard? will it not be a breach of trust between the bankers and the accused if the bankers provide the police with details?

Powers of the police to investigate are in sections 155 and 156 of the Cr.P.C. Please go through them in detail. It will not be a breach of trust.
