First and foremost qualification require is not to be scared of cops... for this the lawyer should never ask for any help from any cop in any case... next is not to plea for the client in such a soft tone that the magistrate can barely hear him... I'm not saying one should be rude... but should talk in a firm tone else most PP, IO or even magistrate will take him for granted..... various sections are better known by routine petty criminals !!! for instance most IOs are not present on the first day of bail plea... all the advocate needs to say is " I would like to ask a few question to the Ld. IO " magistrate will call the IO. Most will get irritated as he is not in the court.... so client is very likely to get bail !!! learned this from a regular petty criminal :)... so first law is be ruthless with cops... Sections most know but sadly many misguide to keep the case dragging for years :(
