"Legal Consultant" - Who can use the term ?

Who can use the designation "Legal Consultant" ? What qualification he must have ? Any Registration required ? In India, which law defines this particular issue ? Please add any supporting documents/articles if available.

Hello Raja,

In Maharashtra, the Law Graduates can practice as a "Legal Consultant". You have to pass a Law Degree (3 years or 5 years) from any recognised university. However, as per my information, a Legal Consultant can practice in any areas or branches of Law.

E.g. One can practice as a Legal Consultant in DTL(i..e. Direct Tax Laws), Customs, Excise, Civil Law, Criminal Law,   Trade Marks, Patents, Cyber Laws etc.

For practicing as a Legal Consultant, a Law Graduate must enrolled with the Bar Association of the State as well as in the bar association of a District. At least after enrollment of Bar Association with the State in necessary for practicing as a Legal Consultant.
