The application of Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code lays down the offence of causing death by negligence. The offence is cognizable, bailable and non compundable.
Compunding of an offence is a settlement mechanism by which, the offender is given an option to pay in lieu of his prosecution to avoid prolonged litigation. There is no specific definition of the word, however legal meaning of compounding can be referred to as doing good the default or non-compliance.
Compundable offences are those which can be settled by paying a certain amount of money.
