Brother on rent in house refuses being on Trent

Namaskaar to all elders!

I am serving in BSF (Border Security Force).

After partition of property, my brother sold his property and asked permission to live in my share of property.

I permitted him to live with me on rent at 3000/- per month. He paid the rent on pieces, as per his convenience.

Now after 4 years, he has filled a case against me that he has given me rupees on loan, and I am not repaying the borrowed amount.

There is no written agreement between us regarding rent, but he is accepting that he is living with me in my property from 4 years.

What legal stand I can take to defend my self.

As I am serving in BSF, and has limited time to attend this matter, and has no legal experience, please guide me...

Thanks
