Help needed in a divorce matter

A middle-aged friend needs help.

His spouse working abroad since June 2014. Not lived under one roof since July 2015.
Can he file for a divorce in India? What should be his grounds for a quick divorce?

Where should he file for divorce?
He lived with her and his kids in City X since 2002 and in City Y from 2006-2014
He has a home in City Y but lives in City Z.

Dear querist,

Mutual consent divorce takes less time. Contested divorce take lot of time and money but in case either spouse in not willing for mutual consent divorce than only option is contested divorce.

Contested divorce can be filled under desertion and cruelty.
