Retrospective rent agreement

to my knowledge thats not valid

What in case the previous rent agreement was lost in fire and there is no copy of the rent agreement available nor do i have the record where it was made. What are my options in that case?

If I am interpreting it correctly, retrospective agreement can be valid. Am I wrong in the interpretation?
