Why we are facing insult again and again?

BEIJING: An Indian diplomat was injured and hospitalised following an assault by a large group of Chinese traders in a court, as he tried to secure the release of two Indians who were held hostage by locals, demanding payment of their dues in the eastern business hub of Yiwu.

S Balachandran, a diplomat at the Indian Consulate in Shanghai was rushed to hospital when he fainted after being "manhandled" by the crowd that tried to snatch two kidnapped Indians who clung to him.

The incident happened when he was leaving the court after prolonged negotiations on the night of December 31.

The two Indians had been held hostage by the local traders for two weeks for non-payment of dues by their company, whose owner had allegedly fled the country.

Riva Ganguly Das, the Consul General of the Shanghai Consulate of India told PTI here that Balachandran, working as Consul at the Consulate fainted when he was "manhandled", while attempting to get the release of Deepak Raheja and Shyamsunder Agrawal. Balachandran, 46, tried to negotiate for their release for over five hours at a court in Yiwu, a big trading centre for a host of commodities. He was assaulted when the two Indians, being held captive for over fortnight clung on to him to leave the surcharged place. The incident took place in the court and in the presence of police and the judge.

A high drama ensued as the crowd prevented the two from going along with him demanding that they pay millions of Yuan owed to them for commodities purchased from them.

They later pounced on them and snatched the two from Balachandran, who in the process suffered injuries especially to his knee. A diabetes patient, Balanchandran fainted after the assault.

Balachandran was rushed to the local hospital in an ambulance in a semi-conscious state by local officials and some Indian traders based in Yiwu. Local officials reportedly apologised to Balachandran after the incident.

Though the court said Deepak and Shayamsundar were free to go, they remained in police custody fearing attack by the crowd. They too suffered injuries in the incident.

Balachandran was admitted to a hospital in Shanghai yesterday where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

His condition was better and he is currently undergoing various tests, Das said.

The two Indians are lodged at a police station and the Consulate has appointed a lawyer to secure their release.

The two were held as captive after the owner of their company, Euro Global Trading, fled without paying the dues of local suppliers. The owner was stated to be a Yemeni or a Pakistani national.

The two Indians hailing from Mumbai say they were employees of the company but the local Chinese suppliers assert they will be released only after they pay the dues.

Their families were in touch with the Indian Consulate officials to obtain their release.

Over 100 Indian traders stay in Yiwu which is the centre of commodities trading.

Last year, Indian merchants bought over USD 15 billion worth of goods from the market.

Indians say such incidents are common in Yiwu as local suppliers target the traders whenever payments are not made.

 

Indiann government is fail to protect the Nations' pride in the arena of world. A time may come Indian public may take law in its own hands and may tackle the matter in the same manner.

Chinese incursions on the border, Chinese claims that it is their land, Chinese soldiers beating locals/traders in Indian territory, Chinese ambassador insulting journalists in India.....................so on, why our politicians/leaders are not able to muster courage to thrash the Chinese. But our politicians/leaders are not willing.

Indian merchants who have shifted base/manufacturing to China e.g. sports goods confide they have done so due to heavy burden of taxes and corruption and if they are given relief they shall be back, but our politicians/leaders are not willing.

Chinese companies are granted contracts in India. They are found to be engaged in spying activities on our soil. These contracts can very well be given to our youth. But our politicians/leaders are not willing.

 

During the Kargil war our armed forces affirmed that they can conduct a surgical operation and close the issue for ever. Our armed forces pointed out that it is 15 job for them to win over POK, and install and settle the administration, but our politicians/leaders are not willing.

Kasab is video filmed killing our brothers and sisters but he shall not be hanged. Kasab demand and is served Biryani.

Raja and other get VIP treatment and relish “Puree and Kheer” in jail” and are have wealth to be defended. Many countrymen languish in jails for the want of counsel and defense.

Our Agriculture minister states grain may rot but shall not be distributed free to poor.

The question arises do we need them?

If our politicians/leaders are not willing, it is time to declare “Tit for Tat”

What rights our constitution gives us.

Every countrymen should save say 10% of his resources , and pool it to be used for thrashing all such guys who attack our dignity and our rights be it in India our mother land or any other land.
