Wrong birth date while applied for job

sir,

At the time of application on urgent basis for job i had just copy paste my friend bio date where as I forget to change my date of birth.

In application my date of birth is 09.08.1972 where as original date of birth is 28.01.1967

I had submitted my resume on 24.05.2008 now five years gone. I know in future it create lots of problem.

so I would have to correct my date of birth.

If  my self give application to HR to change my date of birth, will they ask me to resign or discontinue from service?

what happen and what to do? please advaise me
