Chaos prevailed in the Karnataka High Court when thousands of advocates, ignoring a court order, boycotted the proceedings in various courts in the city demanding Chief Justice P D Dinakaran to stay away from the court till he was absolved of allegations levelled against him.
Unsavoury scenes were witnessed when some advocates barged into a court hall in the High Court premises when their colleagues, despite the court ban on their boycott, attended the proceedings.
They ransacked the furniture to protest the advocates attending the proceedings.
Their ire also was directed at the media as a group of advocates assaulted a cameraman of a national news channel.
The Bangalore Advocates Association (BAA) had called for the boycott of proceedings in all courts in the city demanding the Chief Justice to stay away from proceedings till he was absolved of all charges.
However, a High Court Bench on Saturday had banned the boycott after a day-long hearing of a PIL.
The advocates have been up in arms against the Chief Justice since last month and called for boycott of all courts from today.
However, there was a division in the Advocates Association itself with a small section of them opposing the boycott.
