The designated court Judge M L Tahilyani said he wanted to complete the 26/11 terror attacks trial by Diwali this year.

Judge Tahilyani made this assertion after Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam prayed for a week-long leave.

Mr Nikam had requested for the leave after Ganapati festival, to which Judge Tahilyani said, ‘I want to complete the trial by Diwali festival.’ Of the 12 separate cases registered in the 26/11 attacks, the fifth one of Cama Hospital incident is in progress. In these five cases, there was allegedly direct involvement of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone arrested pakistani terrorist. In some other cases, Kasab is hardly involved. So far, the court has examined 133 witnesses.

A group of ten terrorists, who had attacked the city on November 26, last year, had killed 166 people and injured 270 others.

Out of the ten terrorists, nine were killed in exchange of firing with NSG commandos and police personnel and only Kasab was caught alive at Girgaum Chowpatty.
