Government has said that criminal cases and appeals in criminal matters in Subordinate Courts and High Courts are conducted by the Public Prosecutors/ Counsels appointed by the respective States Governments. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha this week, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice, said that so far as CBI is concerned, his Ministry has been duly according necessary approval for the appointment of Special Public Prosecutors/Special Counsel for CBI whenever such a proposal is received. Shri Khurshid further informed the House that no incident of willful absence of Special Public Prosecutors and Special Counsels of CBI from Court proceedings has come to the notice of his Ministry.
