HC rejects pleas to review Ayodhya judgment

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has rejected three applications, seeking review of its judgment pronounced in Ayodhya title suits on September 30 last year.
The special full bench of the court comprising Justice S U Khan, Justice Sudhir Agrawal and Justice V K Dixit while passing the order said applications were misconceived and devoid of merits and not maintainable. These applications were moved by a local advocate.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports Rs 1,000 penalty has been imposed in the contempt petitions against a national news agency and a daily newspaper for reporting on the Ayodhya title suit trial in 2006. The special court also ended the contempt proceedings against two authors and a printer for their controversial book on the Ayodhya excavations. The three were let off after the court fined them Rs 1000 each as cost.
