Shahabuddin sentenced to five years' RI

 

A local court in Siwan, Bihar sentenced former RJD MP Md Shahabuddin to five years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 on Thursday.

 

Special Sessions Court Judge R N Tripathi sentenced Shahabuddin for violating the Arms Act, Indian Telegraph Act, FEMA and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code six years ago.

 

The cases were registered against the former MP following recovery of a cache of arms and ammunitions, bullet proof jackets, telescope and foreign currencies from his residence at Pratappur in Siwan district on 24th April 2005.

 

Shahabuddin is lodged in a jail in Siwan in connection with criminal cases registered against him.
