Bangalore likely to get a court dealing with cyber crimes

A key official has promised action on setting up in Bangalore the southern regional branch of the New Delhi-located IT Appellate Tribunal dealing with cyber crimes once the state offered the infrastructure.

"Bangalore being hub of IT Sector, it should also be provided with sufficient judicial phenomenon such as the Appellate Tribunal," Chairman of Cyber Appellate Tribunal, New Delhi, Justice Rajesh Tandon said at the inauguration of Bangalore cyber security summit 2011, organised by the State government.

He said till the Tribunal dealing with cyber crimes is set up here(Bangalore), he can hold the court here once a month or deal with cases through video conferencing.

"Government is requested to provide court and complete machinery so that the Adjudicator (who hears appeal on cyber crimes) can function as a Judge," Justice Tandon said.

He felt that there is a need to create awareness about machinery available to deal with cyber crimes, adding, at present many approach police to report about such offences.
