Fake stamp paper scam: Telgi gets ten-year RI in Nashik case

A special court here has sentenced fake stamp paper scam accused Abdul Karim Telgi to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 9 lakh in a case registered with Nashik police in 2000.

Telgi, who is facing 47 cases in connection with the scam, pleaded guilty in the Nashik case through video-conferencing on Friday from Bangalore where he is lodged in a jail, his lawyer said on Saturday.

The kingpin of the multi-crore scam is already undergoing a 13 years RI after his conviction in 2007 in a case filed by Pune police.

The court had also sentenced Telgi to ten-year RI on 13th June in a case filed against him by Mulund police in Mumbai in 2005.
