The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, namely, Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) through State Governments/UT Administrations with the objective to create a safe and secure environment for overall development of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law, since 2009. The financial norms have been revised with effect from 1st April, 2014, which includes increased maintenance grant for children in homes from Rs.750 to Rs.2000 per child per month and enhanced cost of construction from Rs.600 per sq. feet to Rs.1000 per sq. feet.

MWCD is implementing ICPS, since 2009, for execution of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, (JJ Act). Under this scheme financial assistance, on sharing basis, is provided to State Governments/UT Administrations, which includes setting up and maintaining of various types of Homes for development and rehabilitation of Children in need of protection and Children in conflict with law. As reported by States/UTs, the financial assistance is properly utilized by them.

The details of Institutional care homes, Open Shelters, Specialised Adoption Agencies (SAAs), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), State Child Protection Society (SCPS), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) assisted under ICPS, during each of the last three years, State/UT wise is as below:
