The Delhi High Court has dismissed a PIL filed by the students of Delhi University. The PIL was seeking directions to be given to the University for ensuring hostel accommodation to the students.

The division bench of Chief Justice Patel and Justice Shankar observed that there was absence of statutory obligation on the University for providing hostel accommodation to all students. The Court further noted that the interpretation of Section 33 of the DU was not economically viable as it would cost a lot to provide the facility. The Court also stated that the High Court could not dealt with issues related to policies of Delhi University.

The Court dismissed the PIL filed by Praveen Kumar Singh that was seeking provision of accommodation to students by Delhi University.
