THE HONG KONG ADMINISTRATION HAS CARRIED OUT MASS ARRESTS OF ITS DISSIDENTS. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO OPPOSE HONG KONG'S INCLINATION TOWARDS CHINA.
• On January 5, Hong Kong Police arrested over 50 to 100 pro-democracy activists.
• The arrests were made on several charges such as sedition.
• The arrested persons included various former and current pro-democracy politicians.
• A senior Police Superintendent reported that over 1000 Police officers were deployed to arrest the pro-democracy activists.
• The mass arrests are said to be in relation with the Local polls, which ended with overwhelming performance of pro-democracy leaders.
• Later the elections were postponed by the pro-Chinese administration, over the pretext of Coronavirus pandemic.
• Hong Kong has been in despair since 2019 when the pro-Chinese administration brought the extradition bill to try Hong Kong citizens in mainland China.
