SC Fixes Final Hearing Of Natwar Singh Plea In Oil For Food Scam 1/17/2009 The Supreme Court fixed for final hearing in the month of July, the petition filed by former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh and his son Jagat Singh, seeking the copies of inquiry committee report, as well as all documents relied upon by the Justice R S Pathak committee in Oil-For-Food scandal. Senior counsel K K Venugopal submitted before a bench comprising Justices B N Agrawal and G S Singhvi that this court has to decide whether the petitioners are entitled to have access to the inquiry committee report and the entire evidence placed before the inquiry committee report to prepare their defence. According to the petitioners, the Justice Pathak Committee has virtually exonerated Natwar Singh of the charges of having any financial benefits in the scam. The scam had taken place in 2001, when Saddam Hussain was the President of Iraq with whom Natwar Singh was having cordial relation and about Rs 2 crore of the ill-gotten money was allegedly deposited in the accounts of one Adnan Sehgal, a close relative of Mr Singh.
