Guj HC denies voting rights to donor members in CBC election Ahmedabad | Friday, Mar 6 2009 IST The Gujarat High Court today upheld the rival faction led by Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah's plea that the individual members of the Central Cricket Board (CBC), Ahmedabad, would not have 'right to vote' in the election. Justice M R Shah, in his order, said the individual members, who were mainly donor members, would not have voting and other participating rights in the proceeding of the CBC's elections. Mr Shah's group and rival group led by Narhari Amin, president of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), has been fighting legal battle over the control of cricketing activities in Gujarat since last one year. Barring 50 donor members, the CBC has 180 members representing various clubs, gymkhanas and district-level institutions. Of these, Shah group has claimed to have support of 140 members. Justice Shah had also guided the CBC to hold the fresh election in 2-3 weeks and it should be observed by the retired justice of the High Court. The court granted permission to Amin group to appeal in the Supreme Court before March 23. -- (UNI) -- 06BY28.xml
