Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today sought records from a special CBI court in connection with a PIL challenging its order absolving Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and Cabinet Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui in the multi-crore Taj Heritage Corridor (THC) case. Since the prosecution failed to obtain sanction from the UP government, the CBI court had absolved both of them from the charges. A bench comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and Shabeehul Hasnain passed the order on the petition of Anupma Singh and Kamlesh Verma. On June 5, 2007, the CBI court had absolved both Ms Mayawati and Mr Siddiqui. The petitioner has demanded the cancellation of this order. The High Court has fixed April 16 as the next hearing of the case.
