Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the state government would ensure conviction of all the accused through speedy trial in the woman stripping case that occurred in full public view in state capital.
Mr Kumar told media persons that the state government would take stern action against the police officials whose laxity in discharging their duty led to occurrence of such an incident.
‘If the policemen on duty had taken timely action, such a shameful incident on a busy road in the state capital could not have happened,’ he added.
Mr Kumar, however noted that policemen in plain clothes rescued the victim and brought her to the police station. ‘The policemen also arrested the offender,’ he added.
The state government would ensure conviction of all the accused in the case through speedy trial, he said, adding anyone having more information on the case should contact the state police.
Mr Kumar lambasted the Opposition for politicising the issue and said all sections of the society should come forward to prevent recurrence of such incident.
‘The opposition should have demanded for a debate on the issue in state Assembly,’ he said, adding the state government was prepared for that.
