The Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation (TRCF) has moved to consumer court against 8 leading cellular mobile companies, accusing them of poor service and not including ringtones tune and other service in Gojri language.



Dr Javid Rahi, National Secretary of the TRCF, an organisation working for tribes in the country, said here today a suit was filed in the consumer court on behalf of Gujjars of the state against eight leading cellular mobile companies, providing services in the state.



He accused them of consumer fraud, false advertising and deceptive trade practice by "misrepresenting Gojri, the third largest spoken language of the state in their packages for customer care in regional languages and providing poor quality services in Tribal areas.



Dr Rahi said the Gojri language has been ignored by cellular mobile service providers in costumer care compelled the Gujjars for initiating a legal proceedings against them.



"The mobile services in tribal areas are almost defunct," he said adding out of 32 lakhs Mobile and Wireless connections in the state, one-third of the total consumers are Gojri speaking.



He said, they are been ignored in providing quality service and computerised answers in Gojri.



Dr Rahi complained that despite of number of requests, the companies failed to provide ringtones services in Gojri, forcing them to seek justice through law.



He said a legal notice was also served to all the eight cellular mobile companies asking them to provide quality service in Tribal areas and include Gojri in costumer care computerised Service. But nothing has been done, he alleged.



He said the Cellular Mobile Companies are providing costumers care computerized services and Ringtones in regional languages like Kashmiri, Dogri and Ladakhi in the state but ignored Gojri.



He further charged that all the eight service providers companies have failed to provide an error free service to costumers of Tribal areas and Border Bellts of Poonch Rajouri, Baramulla Kupwara.



Dr Rahi said the TRCF has also lodged a written complaint to Telecom Regulatory Authorities (TRA) against these companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, Relaince, Idea, Spice Communication, and Tata Indicom as all companies have failed to provide quality service in Tribal areas.
