The Delhi High Court asked the CBI to interrogate Buta Singh in a bribery case also involving his son Sarabjot alias Sweety Singh .

The Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Buta Singh had submitted before the High Court his willingness to be questioned by the CBI.

Recording the statement submitted by Singh’s counsel, Justice Geeta Mittal asked the investigating agency to question Singh in the bribery case.

Singh submitted his willingness before the court only after extracting a clarification from the Central investigating agency that he was required to be questioned more as a witness and not as an accused in the said case.

He also submitted that he would be available to CBI on September 10 at 1100 hrs at his office where the agency sleuths can question him.

Sarabjot Singh was arrested by the agency sleuths on July 31 accepting bribe from a Nashik-based builder. Buta Singh’s name was also embroiled later when his son spilled the beans.

Even as the CBI sought to question him, Singh moved the High Court seeking to quash the summons.
