Delhi High Court dismissed the petition of real estate major DLF Ltd which challenged the Land and Development Officer’s(L&DO) decision refusing a No Objection Certificate(NOC) for prime land situated at Chanakya Puri.

Justice Sanjive Khanna dismissed the petition on the grounds that it held no merit.

L&DO had held that the title of the property situated behind Diplomat Hotel in Chankya Puri, measuring 22.9 acres, was not in the name of DLF. Therefore, NOC could not be granted to them.

DLF, which wanted to build a hotel in collaboration with US hotel chain Four Seasons, had approached the registrar to get the land transferred in their name.

The NOC from the L&DO, required for the transfer, could not be procured as the land was in the name of Edward Keventer Successor Ltd.

According to records, the owner of the land is Mr Narender Nath Seigal and Dalmiya’s. Since Mr Narender Nath has passed away, his sons are the legal heirs.
