Court dismissed the petition filed by suspended IPL chief Lalit Modi

Today The Bombay High Court dismissed the petition filed by suspended IPL chief Lalit Modi seeking reconstitution of BCCI disciplinary committee which is probing allegations of his financial wrongdoings in the conduct of the Twenty20 League The disciplinary committee, set up the BCCI to probe the charges of financial irregularities against Modi, set the ball rolling on Tuesday. The panel will meet again on Wednesday and this is the last chance for Modi to appear either in person or by way of a video conference to cross-examine witnesses and other evidence that the board chooses to use against him. If he doesn't, an ex-parte decision will be taken.

.The five charges levelled against Lalit Modi are that he concealed the name of the winning Rajasthan Royals bidder, inserted stiff clauses in the bid for two new IPL teams, arm-twisted the Kochi franchisee to relent under pressure to relinquish the team ownership, made a payment of $80 million as facilitation fee to WSG and awarded Internet and mobile rights to his son-in-law without the approval of the governing council.

Once the disciplinary committee finishes hearing Modi's case and if the charges against the suspended IPL chief are proved, the board is all set to register a criminal complaint and sack him
