Allahabad HC declines to hear petition against Justice Satish Chandra's appointment 8/22/2008 The second nominated division bench of the Allahabad High Court today declined to hear the writ petition challenging the recent appointment of a sitting Allahabad High Court justice Satish Chandra. The bench comprising Janardan Sahay and Rakesh Sharma declined to hear the writ and forwarded it to the Chief Justice. Yesterday, the bench comprising Justices Yatindra Singh and S K Gupta had also released the case. A high court lawyer M C Gupta had filed the writ petition, challenging the recent appointment of Justice Satish Chandra. According to the petition, Justice Chandra lacked the basic eligibility and qualification for being a judge in the high court. Now, the Chief Justice will nominate third bench to hear the writ petition. Justise Chandra was appointed as the high court judge on August 6 this year.
