The Supreme Court has asked the Amicus Curiae to collect data relating to child rape cases from various States and place it before the Court.

Amicus Curiae V Giri has been directed to obtain data from various High Courts.

This includes data on the number of courts designated as Special Courts under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the number of Special Public Prosecutors appointed under the POCSO Act, the number of Child Rape cases in which FIRs have been registered, the number of such cases which are in the stage of investigation, and the number of such cases in which trial has been completed.

The order was passed by a Bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta in the suo motu PIL initiated by Supreme Court concerning the increasing number of child rapes. The Amicus is working with the Court to evolve a mechanism to ensure quick disposal of Child Rape cases.
