Plea in SC by MahaGovt in the SC against the Interim Protection given to Arnab Goswami, saying he’s arrogant, and he ‘Browbeating’ Police.
Maharashtra Government has filed an application in the Supreme Court, alleging that Arnab Goswami was ‘browbeating’ the police
He was granted three weeks interim protection by the Supreme to refrain any coercive action against him, when FIRs were lodged against him after he made controversial statements against Sonia Gandhi and passed communal statements on his show.
In the application, they have alleged he has been abusing his interim protection. He is heckling the investigating officers and is barricading a proper investigation. And hence they have prayed for restraining him from doing such acts.
They have also stated that Goswami has made accusations that the Mumbai Police is biased against him. There have been various tweets alleging that ‘Police was unnecessarily questioning him for long hours. He has also made several statements in his show Puchta Hai Bharat, which stated that the Commissioner of Mumbai Police has suppressed his FIRs and is a part of India Bulls which is a scam.
The application also added that his statements in his show is to browbeat, intimidate and terrorize the Investigating officers. And that he is abusing his position and misusing it. They have said that he is arrogant and his conducts will encroach upon the area of investigation, and hence, the interim protection given to him should be withdrawn.
