Ajmal Amir Kasab Trial: Court To consider Kazmi's application

Designated Court Judge M L Tahiliyani, hearing the 26/11 accused Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab’s trial, today reserved his order till tomorrow on an application filed by Abbas Kazmi, representing lone arrested Pakistani terrorist, praying for four-week time to submit his reply on the opening of the case by special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

Mr Kazmi also made another application praying for a copy of the over 11,000-page chargesheet in Urdu as Kasab did not follow English and wanted to know the charges levelled against him.

Advocate Ejaj Naqvi, the defence lawyer for Kasab’s co-accused Sabauddin Ahmad, also filed two applications. The first application stated third-degree torture meted out to his client in police custody and the other seeked the return of Sabauddin’s belongings, which were seized by the investigating agency at the time of his arrest.

Following the applications produced by Mr Kazmi and Mr Naqvi, Judge Tahiliyani directed Mr Nikam to file a reply in this regard by tomorrow after which the Court would decide its further course of action.
