The Tamil Nadu government will spell out its position on the issue of a telephonic call made by a Union Minister to Madras High Court judge R. Reghupathi after the judge reveals the identity of the Minister, Public Works and Law Minister of the State Durai Murugan told the Assembly on Wednesday.
Responding to All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam whip K.A. Sengottaiyan’s query, he said the judge had expressed his opinion; he had not yet named the Minister.
During the debate on the demands for grants for the Departments of Law and Administration of Justice (Home, Prohibition and Excise), several members raised the issue. T.A. Meghanathan of the Pattali Makkal Katchi and M.V.R. Veerakabilan of the AIADMK expressed shock. G. John Joseph of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) wanted the Union government to sack the Minister concerned.
