The Kerala High Court directed the State Government to constitute a High-Power Committee to probe into the allegations regarding appointment of Assistants to the Kerala University office.
Single Bench Judge Justice V Giri recommended that the committee be headed by retired Justice N Sukumaran and should also include a computer expert and a Government official not below the rank of Principal Secretary.
While giving the direction, the Court also quashed Upalokayuktha order, recommending the cancellation of the appointment of Assistants and action against the Syndicate members.
The court noted that the committee shall inquire into the various allegations that arose in connections with the appointments like whether the computer generated answer sheets were received by the University, and, if they were received, why the sheets were not produced before Upalokayuktha, and, if the sheets were lost, who was responsible for that.
The Committee should also inquire about the constitution of the selection Committee for the appointment and the marks awarded by each member of the Committee to the candidates.
The court issued the orders while hearing a batch of petitions challenging Upalokayuktha order, demanding cancellation of the list of Assistants in the Kerala University.
