Former Chief Justice of India Justice K N Singh said if the allegations against Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran were proved, it will damage the image of Constitutional office of the Chief Justice and the judiciary atlarge.

Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of a function here, Justice Singh said,’ I feel bad and it pains me to hear allegations of this kind against a sitting judge of the Karnataka High Court.’ ‘I don’t know Justice Dinakaran or his personal life. Through media I came to learn about the ongoing controversy. If the media reports are correct, it would certainly damage the judiciary as well as the Constitutional office of the Chief Justice,’ he added.

Replying to a question, he said during his tenure also some allegations were made especially when a judge was very aggressive and not liked by others. ‘There were allegations against one or two.’ When asked whether the judiciary was free of corruption, Justice Singh remarked ‘the judiciary does not suffer from corruption. But at the same time it is not free of corruption.’
