The valedictory function of the two-week Police Training Programme for newly appointed judicial officers was held in the conference hall of Haryana Police Academy (HPA) at Madhuban.
Justice A S Anand, former Chief Justice of India and former chairperson NHRC was the chief guest at the function.
Welcoming the chief guest and other senior officers present on the occasion, Mr Sudhir Chowdhary, IG HPA gave a brief outline of this two-week course and highlighted some of the achievements of the Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chowdhary said during the training, emphasis was laid on giving the trainee officers police interface via academic inputs, outdoor activities as also on imparting democratic and ethical values. The inputs in various fields were provided by eminent personalities, such as - Mr Sankar Sen, Mr N C Joshi, Mr Lal Bahadur Verma, Mr Irfan Engineer, Ms Maitreyi Pushpa and Ms Abha Singhal Joshi and experts from various forensic science laboratories.
The topics covered included wide range from forensic science to bank frauds and organized crime to human rights; stress management to gender sensitization; democratic policing to community policing.
Speakers in the training programme were from FSL Shimla, NICFS Delhi and FSL Madhuban. Several batches of judicial officers from Haryana, Punjab and Assam have been given training in the past as well at HPA.
Justice Anand was all praise for the Academy and the good work being done by it. He appreciated the concept of a sensitised police and empowered society. He also added that the list of & vulnerable sections; now includes the senior citizens.
He suggested that refresher courses should also be held for Judicial Officers after about every five years. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Mr S K Sharma, Joint Course Director.
