Devegowda to appear on November 26, before SC

Former Prime Minister H D Devegowda will appear personally in the Supreme Court on November 26. Mr Devegowda has filed an application to implead in the Bangalore-Mysore infrastructure corridor case in which he has been demanding ouster of the present contractor M/s NICE.



Mr Devegowda has made serious allegations against the contractor for illegally acquiring land in excess of its requirement and for indulging in real estate business at the cost of farmers.  When H D Kumaraswamy, son of Mr Devegowda, was Chief Minister of Karnataka the state government and NICE were involved in a fierce legal battle as the state government headed by Mr Kumaraswamy was insistent on ousting NICE from the project. 



Mr Devagowda also filed an additional affidavit in the Supreme Court making serious allegations against the contractor of corruption through real estate business. It may be noted here that JD(S) Chief Devegowda had earlier circulated an open letter in the Supreme Court seeking removal of Justice Arijit Pasayat (since retired), who was heading the Supreme Court bench at that time and was hearing the matter. 



Mr Devegowda had alleged that free and fair decision in the case was not possible till Justice Pasayat did not remove himself from the bench. Justice Pasayat finally withdrew himself from the bench. According to Mr Devegowda, NICE has caused a colossal loss of Rs 30,000 crore to the sate exchequer through its illegal activities. 



Mr Devegowda wants to become a party in the case to expose the alleged corruption indulged in by the contractor. Eight townships have to come-up to decongest Bangalore-Mysore express highway.
