Monday, November 30, 2009: Thirty three (33) Regional Labour Commissioners (Central) [RLC(C)], 05 at Chief Labour Commissioner (C) Headquarter, and the other twenty eight (28) in the field offices, have been appointed to look into among other works, the complaints received from registered trade unions in various public sector undertaking for which Central Government is the appropriate Government.
These Regional Labour Commissioners (Central) are assisted by 56 Assistant Labour Commissioners (Central) and 162 Labour Enforcement Officers (Central) for looking into cases arising in Central Sphere in the country. Moreover, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioners (Central), have been advised from time to time to liquidate the pendency of Industrial Disputes/Complaints. As there has been no substantial increase in the pending cases, the present strength of the above mentioned machinery is considered sufficient presently.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shri Harish Rawat in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
