The newly appointed Karnataka High Court Chief Justice, Mr Justice Paul Daniel Dinakaran today called for cooperation to clear the large backlog of cases. Addressing members of Bar Association who extended him a warm welcome on assuming charge, he said the backlog in various courts has been increasing. "We should strive hard to bring down the backlog of cases by maintaining justice for all," he added. Stating that commitment, openness, transparency and technology were most important, Justice Dinakaran said modern technology should be utilized in the functioning of the judiciary for speedy disposal of cases. Assuring that deficiency in the system would be removed, he said he expressed confidence of cooperation from his colleagues and members of Bar Association. In his maiden administrative judgment, Justice Dinakaran dropped all the charges against 200 judiciary officials stating that "the disciplinary proceedings against 200 lower judicial officers, which were pending for a long time, have been dropped. A decision to this effect was taken after a meeting with Administrative officers," he added. Earlier, Governor Rameshwar Thakur administered the oath to Justice Dinakaran at Rajbhavan. Justice Dinakaran succeeds Justice Cyriac Joseph who has been elevated and appointed as Supreme Court Judge, it may be recalled.
