The Supreme Court today issued notices to the CBI and others on a petition filed by CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan challenging the Kerala governor's decision to prosecute him in the Lavalin corruption scandal.
A Bench of Justices R.V Raveendran and B Sudershan Reddy said it would examine among other things the powers of courts to entertain such petitions after the governor has taken a decision.
The CPM leader had filed the writ petition questioning the governor's power to grant sanction after the same was rejected by the council of ministers.
Senior Counsel Harish Salve, appearing for the state government, also said that the state was supporting Vijayan's stand.
