LOK AYUKTA RAIDS HOUSES OF TWO BABUS 23 Jan 2009, 2241 hrs IST, TNN Text: HAVERI: The Lok Ayukta sleuths raided the houses of two government officials here on Friday. Valuables and documents pertaining to their properties disappropriate to their known sources of income have been seized from them. One of the houses raided belongs to Shivappa Malleshappa Gaddadavar, a manager at the food and civil supplies department in Gadag district. The Lok Ayukta team, led by Davanagere SP Ravikumar Nayak, raided the house and recovered 180-gm gold worth Rs 2.3 lakh, Rs 10,000 cash and property-related documents from Shivappa's residence. The SP said the accused has a bungalow at Basavehwar Nagar worth Rs 30 lakh here. According to sources, the accused owns a new car and a commercial complex worth Rs 15 lakh at Haveri in his daughter's name. Raids were also conducted at his Gadag office and Byadagi residence. The sleuths also raided the house of D K Shanmukhappa, a commercial tax inspector (CTI) of Hospet in Bellary district. His residence is located at Ranebennur, 35 km from here. The police have summoned him from Hospet for investigations, which began late in the evening. The Lok Ayukta team comprised deputy SP Basavrajappa, PI Harapanhalli, Sudhir Hegade, and Gurudut.
